Sometimes people change and sometimes they don't. (Sorry again for the lateness as the Wednesday episode threw me for a loop) As I was watching the opening of the show on Wednesday I wrote down "James is finally getting it." He offered Colby a hug which I took as, "Too bad dude, enjoy your last days here." More on this later.
We then see Candance explaining her changing her vote to ax Tom last week which really made no sense since she was in the majority already. Throw in the fact that people don't like her and Candance is gift wrapping herself for a quick ouster. She must be a real putz behind the scenes because people really don't like her nor do they trust her which means she doesn't have any chance to win. People will still vote for you to win the million because they think you outplayed them even if they don't trust you, however, when they don't like you, they won't vote for you even if you were the best player. Remember Natalie beating Russel in the final last year, nuf said.
We then see Rob making the comment "Russell is playing the big boys now," and then we see Russell saying almost the same thing about Rob. Then we see them having a night time talk. Rob says, "Watch your back," and Russell says "Watch your back," then we get the "NO you watch your back," etc. I am hoping they both stick around for a long time.
The challenge is reward and someone going home. When the teams come together Danielle is surprised that James is still there and that the heroes voted out Tom. I have to admit, I thought the same thing. The tribes square off in a rope maze with both teams having a winner for immunity and both teams having to vote someone off. The ultimate winner gets to have his team watch the losers vote their player off. Candance and Boston Rob win. Back at camp we see Amanda crying because she thinks James will be voted out so she does what every American born person would do, she asks a cripple to run. This was a version of dumb and dumber because everybody was going to vote off Cobly before James decided to take the advice of Amanda and race one of The heroes vote off James as the villains watch. Okay, I am confused, you vote off a good player last week who isn't injured and then this week you keep a guy who wanted to leave and who was aligned with the player you voted out last week. Although James was hurt, he wanted to be there. If history shows nothing else in Survivor, players who want to leave will continue to give up later in the game, count on it. As far as Candance is concerned, her days are numbered.
Not to the "What the hell what I thinking," portion of the game. I ain't the smartest guy in the world but when Rob explains to the group the theory of splitting the vote 3 - 3 - 3, it made prefect sense. Um, it made perfect sense to the 12 million people watching and eight of the nine people playing. The only person in the free world who didn't think it was a good idea was the only person who it mattered to, Tyson. It was quite apparent that he doesn't have the ability to count to four. I didn't think he played much of a game the first time around and this time around he totally sucked. His picture goes up on the wall with James with two idols, Ozzie getting blindsided and Eric giving away immunity. An oh by the way, Russell giving Parvati immunity wasn't a stroke of genius in my book but a huge gamble. Had Tyson not changed his vote it would be Russell's picture on that wall. That and the fact Russell always says he is the best player ever, then why in the world would you save one of the most two faced players ever?
And finally, about banana etiquette. NOPE, not going to go there.
